Have you ever heard of essential oils? They are derived directly from plants. Some plants are more abundant than others. Most essential oils cost upwards of $25 or more for a tiny bottle containing 15ml, which is approximately three tablespoons. You can see the value in just using one drop at a time. Essential oils are strong and can be toxic if taken internally, but, at the same time, small amounts of the oil can be used to make tea tree oil shampoo. A tree grows in parts of Australia called the Melaleuca alternifolia tree and from that oil shampoos and other natural products are made.

You should read the ingredients on the bottle of shampoo and make sure it says that Melaleuca alternifolia is used in the product. This type of oil is one that companies can adulterate with chemicals that won’t give you the true benefits of the oil. In its true form the tea tree oil is antimicrobial, antiseptic and anti-fungal. It’s used in shampoos to fight dandruff and for stimulation of the scalp. Shampoos containing tea tree oil can be purchased directly online, from local drugstores, supermarkets and from multi-level companies doing business on the Internet. There are many different brands of shampoos, along with different prices. Some are quite expensive depending on where you make your purchase.

If you are using purely natural products, you will see a difference in your hair. It will be shiny, soft, easier to manage and exude a look of health. You’ll want to buy a shampoo that doesn’t have the laurel/laureth sulfates in them and one that will also protect your hair while it cleans it. So many shampoos leave your hair dry as hay on the farm. Look for one stating it will nourish your hair and that hasn’t been tested on animals, plus you want one without animal products in it. Sometimes manufacturers put peppermint or lavender in the shampoo and conditioner for a great fragrance and an invigorating feeling.

Other manufacturers put chamomile, grapefruit, or wheat germ oil to cut down on itchiness and flaking. As you can see, there are many different varieties of a shampoo containing tea tree oil. One of the most important things you’ll find with this type of shampoo is the squeaky clean feeling your hair will have after your final rinse.
