2014 is already a quarter over. Was your New Year’s resolution to lose weight and get healthy? How did that go? If you are like most people, you forgot about your resolution a couple weeks into the year. Often people give up on their resolutions for reasons such as “habits are hard to break”, peer pressure, or not being totally committed in the first place. No sense in feeling ashamed, but if you’re serious, you can get re-energized and motivated all over again. To do that, try not to focus on what has kept you from achieving the body you desire. You should, first, determine what’s holding you back from beginning your transformation and then put those fears aside.

I’m ashamed of my body and don’t want to be seen in a gym. Very likely, most people at the gym were thinking the same thing at one time or other, but they’re there. That also means that they’re probably not even going to notice you because they’re busy focusing on achieving their health and fitness goals. Still, there’s an added benefit to starting a workout routine at home … wear whatever you want in the privacy of your own home without worrying about being seen.

I can’t afford a gym or don’t have time for one. While there are decently priced gyms, not everyone can afford one. Some don’t even have the time based on work hours vs. gym operating hours. That’s when fitness DVDs come in handy.

I don’t know how to eat right. Making dietary changes is a key component to health and weight loss and there are plenty of resources that can help you make the changes you need.

I don’t know how to work out. Most of us don’t, at least not instinctively. Fitness DVD programs are a good way to begin exploring work out programs without fear or judgment.

An important change to make is with your attitude. Break a big goal into mini-goals that are easily attainable so that you can see progress. Do something simple like:

1) Buy and start using a helpful fitness program, like a Jillian Michaels DVD set OR 2) Trade one or two bad eating habits for one or two good ones.
