Smoking is an evil habit that can literally take the lives from its consumers. If, however, a person has found themselves consumed by this habit there are still ways to help them rid themselves of it forever. The journey will be hard, and there will be times when the individual will want to quit, however, by sticking to it they will give their body the healthy life it deserves. Before quitting, it is important to familiarize oneself with the effects of quitting in order to know what their body will be experiencing. By knowing this, the journey can be easier.

Prior to quitting, an individual may ask themselves: what happens when you quit smoking? There are many things that a body will go through during the quitting process, most of which are not pleasurable experiences. By knowing ahead of time, a person will be able to better cope during difficult moments. Withdrawal symptoms will vary from person to person, as well as the severity of each symptom. Generally, a person will experience these between three to four weeks. Common symptoms experienced include:

  • Oxygen levels will also return to normal

  • Risk of heart attack is lowered
  • Energy levels increase
  • Risk of lung cancer will be lowered
  • Lung capacity will improve by up to 10 percent

By focusing on these benefits a person will be able to find the will power needed to quit. Quitting will by far be the hardest, yet most beneficial experience a person will encounter. The symptoms are short lived, therefore a person must be strong and fight through the trying times.
