Most people have kitchen and bathroom cabinets that are overflowing. These cabinets contain items and objects that they have purchased in a variety of shopping locales. Over the course of time, our homes become as cluttered as the stores where we make our purchases. However, this does not need to be the case.

There is one product that you can purchase which will take the place of many of the products you have already purchased. This one item is teatree oil and it is widely available online, in drug stores and in natural food emporiums. Used correctly, this oil can easily replace many of the oils, lotions and potions you have come to employ on a daily basis. All it takes is a knowledge of exactly what it is and how this miracle oil should be used.

When used in its pure form, it contains anti-microbial and anti-inflammatory properties. The word “tea tree” is used for an oil derived from a plant closely related to the myrtle plant. Grown in areas of Australia and New Zealand, this oil has been manufactured commercially since the 1920’s.

Products that contain elements of tea tree are perfect for skin irritations and acne conditions. When added to a gentle shampoo and massaged into the scalp, it can be a method of treating a dry scalp. Often dermatologists will suggest this instead of commercially prepared dandruff shampoos for their patients. Young people with acne conditions may want to add a few drops of the oil to an oil free moisturizer and apply to break out areas of their skin. The oil has the effect of calming the skin in this instance.

This oil can be used on both adults and children with few if any side effects. Unlike artificially produced substances that are chemically oriented, the natural essence of the tea tree is generally endorsed by doctors for use on their patients. Like other prescription and over the counter drugs, tea tree products should never be placed in or on the skin around the eyes. This is because the antibacterial nature of the product will sting and can irritate the delicate skin around the eyes.
